Anyone got any bike ride route recommendations into Snowdonia National Park from around Porthmadog? We're down the coast a bit so i'll drive up and park somewhere. I'll need free parking on a minor road in the sticks somewhere not too far from the A487, and a ride of 30-35mls taking in some hills and some general undulating easy stuff. Minor roads with old boozers and quiet cafes on them would be grand. I'll be on a 39/26, but don't mind turning it hard.

Stray from the obvious and take the mountain road from Trawsfynydd to Bala, then over to Lake Vyrnwy for a circuit and then over the bwlch to Dinas Mawddwy. Perhaps finish along the coast road via Harlech. Those road are magnificent and rough and untrafficked.

Sounds great, but something tells me its a wee bit further than the requested 30-35 miles

Could be, but depends where you park up. Could do it all from a lay by on the 470 by the turn off onto the mountain road to Bala. But hey, its beautiful country, so why not keep going?!

I live in Dinas Mawddwy and can highly recommend the Red Lion (Y Llew Coch) for refreshment. Depending on your exact plans and timing I could possibly help you out with a lift back to your starting point.

I want to get 3 days in on the trot, so the milage needs to be around 30-35. I want to do one down to Aberdaron somewhere and a couple in Snowdonia. Quite like to see a bit of Blaenau Festiniog.

Most of my childhood holidays were based round BF (steam trains).

Although we went in May to do the downhill mountain biking which was much fun. (And BF looked nice on a a sunny day). You should try that Mr B, although it wouldn't work with a road bike

I really like Blaenau Ffestiniog, and also Bethesda. Both places get dreadfully maligned, but they have their own unique atmosphere. Real towns, not tourist honeypots like Betws-y-Coed.
