    Over the Hill Route

I'm having a go at Tony Wimbush's Over the Hill challenge route at the weekend unless the weather stops me. 39 miles circular route from Sedbergh visiting 7 trig points (see www.gofar.org.uk). I'm doing this solo, onsight & unsupported, so if nobody hears from me for a while I'll be somewhere in the hills above Sedbergh. I'm just going outside, & I may be some time.

Nice one Splatcher, very ethical approach. I get fed up with hearing about people recce-ing everything to death. Which are the trigs involved? There is a nice circuit from Sedbergh, that I've toyed with, visiting the trigs around the upper Lune watershed.

Baugh Fell (Knoutberry Haw), Great Shunner, Wild Boar Fell, Green Bell, Middleton, Calf, Winder. I don't know the area, but I sent Tony my proposed route the other day & he sent me a few suggested improvements back. I'm going to find a campsite nearby & set off as soon after dawn as I can stand. I'll probably be in the clouds a lot of the day if the forecast turns out to be right. My navigation skills are pretty good really, so I'm hoping not to lose too much time making mistakes. I'm hoping to get under 12 hours but that depends on what it's like underfoot & the weather. And my fitness and competence of course.

Good luck to both of you, I'm a bit young yet for the over the hill route but had a go at the traverse last year. I hope you have better weather than we had, we had to call it a day at three shires stone and pick a low level route back to Keswick it was shocking

    Have a good one

Inov8 Insider, nice route. not too rough on the bits I did as it links up summits there tends to be a path. Amazing how many races the route crosses. All the classics are in there.

want another pop at it soon?

I am also planning a gofar route for next couple of weekends. Technically not an ultra but as it is the day after Sedbergh Hills it will feel like it. The traverse of Wandale to Winder. I just haven't told the guy I am running with. He does read the forum so he will know soon
