    2008 adventures abroad

Anyone got any trips abroad planned involving running or other sporting activities? '08 was going to be my marathon de sable year but I had to knock it on the head due to continal injuries. Off to Egypt in May to do a spot of SCUBA diving and then southern France in August to cycle up a few mountains. Also a few days up north west Scotland running & canoing if that counts as abroad

Egypt was great when we were there in August. Very very hot! Didn't do any scuba dving as the concept of breathing under water doesn't do it for me. Morning runs were tough, even at 6.30am, plus a little scary at times. I don't think they get many mad English men running down the road half naked. Attracted a bit of unwanted attention. Enjoy your trip. And watch out for the strange people selling stuff!

Forgot to add, it will be Wales and a caravan for us next year. Reason being, I will be poor and can't afford Egypt due to a baby and I feel it's rather tight to take a 6 month old baby to somewhere so hot.

Might save the running for the air con gym then! Don't fancy getting kidnapped or somthing - but could make for an interesting chase

I'm hoping to get to Australia for the rugby league world cup in November.
Hope I can find a couple of runs to do. Sydney's Blue Mountains might have some trail races and Townsville running club in Queensland have sent me details of races they do.

Any of you forumites any suggestions of runs in Oz ??

Thought I might have a go at the Dolomite Sky Race - looks like a cracker.

Not specific races, but I used www.coolrunning.com.au to find a couple of races when I was out there. I'd love to tell you about how wonderful the Blue Mountains are, but when I went the whole area was clouded over and I could barely see 10 feet in front of me!

As to going abroad, I'm going to do some running in Wales in January. Does that count?
