    Re: Under rated races.

Welsh 1000m peaks and the Peris are the 2 main ones. The Rhinogs is later and 'different' - very very difficult terrain.

I reckon the Peris is the best, it's got a special feel about it, maybe because its so hard. The 1000m is longer but I think easier.

It is a terrific race. I ran it year before last. Gets 30 or 40 runners.

Thanks for your replies everyone. There's one or two there that will be worth a try in 2008.

Tebay - in fact anything remotely to do with the Howgills is often underrated. Wonderful running country.

I am a rookie fell runner and up to August this year had only run at Rivington and the Darwen Tower races.

But I agree on the Howgills - The Sedbergh Hills was just unbelievably tough for a first long fell race - but loved it, and despite the low cloud, I thoroughly enjoyed the new Howgills Howler in September and will watch out for other Howgill's races.
It would be nice to get a clear day up there though and be able to enjoy the views!

As most of what I do will be tied in to the FRA Junior Champs as I go with the kids from our Club, I am looking forward to some of the venues this year as all are new to me - with the exception of Stacksteads where I grew up!

Although many walk it , i never think that The Mallerstang Yomp gets recognition. It's fantastic scenery and really well organised. Good friendly Cumbrian welcome and endless tea at the end. First sunday in june for those who don't know it.
