I did it a couple of years ago. I was coming back from a foot op so was going quite slowly but there were loads in front of me on the short. I remember it being quite easy to find your way. Some of the paths are not on the map, but they are on the ground! I'm doing the longer route this time.

I was planning on doing the 25 mile, but now sticking to the 18 mile route due to xmas getting in the way of my training.

I live right in the centre of the circuit so I do most of my training on the hills in this route. As has already been mentioned the main problem is that some of the paths used are not shown on the maps but are obvious on the ground, in particular from the back of bull hill to peel tower. The bog from the maggot farm to bull hill is normally quite good underfoot this time of year.

I'm doing the 18 mile route on the two crosses, probably very slowly as I've got blood donor that week, just getting round will be enough. I'll be the fat guy with w(ay)eigh too much kit. I wouldn't have thought navigation would be too much of a problem as you tend get a good route description ofr most of these things.

I think Rombalds is shorter than it says - so many short cuts by these runner types!!!

Do LDWA events have any compulsory kit requirements like the FRA?

    Hi Wycoller
I've done the Rombalds few times now so know the route very well - it's under 22miles (not 25) with about 3500ft of climb. It may sound a lot but not as much as the Hebden (just done today), the 2 crosses (next week) or the Anglzike. Most people walk up the Chevin section - its not one of the tougher ones.
