All I need is a b(u)oy to hang on to every 25m and I'll be fine.

Mud ....in all seriousness hang in there.

I'm relatively new to 'fitness' swimming myself (having taken to it during a long injury period) but I’ve gradually built up a fitness base over the last couple of months by covering 64 x25m lengths 3 times a week whilst at he same time trying to improve my technique which was crap.

I bought a decent pair of goggles and spent quite a lot of time looking at other swimmers and studying their stroke technique. It helped relieve the boredom of following the blue line which was driving me mad and it definitely helped me improve my stroke.

Don't give up on it...you will improve

Thanks for that. I'm thinking I'll probably go twice a week, with the week building up to be 4 runs, two bikes and two swims (I suppose the bike may need to be more than this. And the swim as well I suppose. Arse.)

I did a bit of that today. I remembered just in time (well nearly) to stop doing it in the changing room though.

I may go and read 220 in WhSmiths, but it's wrapped up a lot of the time. Tight bastards.

Angle the body so that it cuts through the water like one of those racing yachts, don't lie flat in the water pushing through it like a barge - was how I had it explained.

I tried swim practice with some fellas that really knew how to swim. They strapped these thick black rubber bands around their ankles so their legs were never gonna kick, then they swam lengths. My life! I had to put a pullbuoy between my legs to stop my feet craashing through the pool tiles...
oooer it all sounds a bit complicated!

Must admit i do like the fact that swimming is good for an all over body type work out
