    Hi IainR,

There were in the end 14 runners I think, plus 2 dogs.

A truely great series of races, especially today's. NO uphills to slow me down, but I still couldn't manage to catch Martin, who I've got to thank for organising the races....Thank You!!! and to all the others who marshaled and helped out thank you.

Well done Welsh Harrier a great weekend of running. Thank you

Do we have to wait a whole year for more downhill fun?

I like this thread. It seems to me to have a lot what is best in our sport (I mean in terms of the spirit of it rather than merely the lack of uphills). Getting along to these race was never really a practicality for us but it'd be nice to see a report and/or photos in The Fellrunner.

in terms of the spirit of it rather than merely the lack of uphills
Although billed as a festival of downhill running there was more than enough uphill to on the first two days for me (if it's not flat, it's uphill for me at the moment). But the spirit was superb, having to make your way to the start and getting there too early and seeking shelter from the elements in and around the Tower with other runners, then having a nice drink in a warm friendly pub with them again at the end, brilliant day!!

Today was the best though, I haven't run so hard in absolutly ages, it may have only lasted just under 13 minutes but it was definitley a thrill a minute, if not every 30 seconds, as well as the thrills I experienced a few spills as well, but that just adds to the fun!

As well as doing this again next year I've put the Llangynhafal Loop on my race calendar for 2008 (Sat 5th April 12:00pm) and by then I should be hill fit and raring to go, can't wait.

I love this idea!! and great to see Bowland's very own ydt in the results having good runs - as always!

There should be more downhill races I reckon - downhill running is the most technical and exciting aspect of the sport after all.

I believe there was once a 'Doon The Ben' race held from the summit of Ben Nevis. Now THAT would be a good one... imagine a festival of downhill running at Fort William - you could have Doon The Ben, Doon Melantee, and Doon Cow Hill. Fantastic!

    Re: Downhill Clwydians Races

I don't know about the first two races because I didn't take part in them, but I can confirm that the Jubilee Plunge was 2 and a half miles of pure FUN!!

Congratulations are due to WH, both for the great event and for his win yesterday. I hope that we can see the race(s) repeated next year.

I think that next time I'll follow the example of everyone else and arrive having allowed myself adequate time to get to the top. I ended up expending more effort on the way up than coming down, in a bid to make it to the start. It rather defeats the purpose of a downhill race!

I am SO GUTTED that I didn't find out about these until it was too late (living 5 minutes away)

I can't believe Pete Norman, he ran a club race up and down there on Saturday morning and then did the downhill race in the afternoon. I hope I can do two races in a day when I'm 70!

    Pete Norman is a God.

I wouldn't be surprised if he cycled to both those races.
