Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone can confirm the route of the race, is it from Birk Bank, straight up? Also does anyone know what the record is? Thanks.

JW, it does not touch Birk Bank these days ( for many years it went up through the car park at BB, up across BB itself then out onto the fell via the "twin stiles" and Reg Baker's wicket gate. Now-a-days Quernmore Field Day is held just across from the P.O (in the field behind the Methodist chapel). Straight across the road and up the fields towards Rowten Brook then swing left to contour along the hillside and pick up the original route near the "twin stiles". Once you've done the summit loop, it's back the same way. Obviously no training on the lower part of the route as there is no public access. This lower section is well flagged on the day. This was a new course 3 or 4 years ago; Mark Croasdale's record is 36.30 for 5m / 1250ft.
