Some time in the last part of 2007 someone posted something about using Google Earth / Map (or similar) to mark up a route and thereby get distances. I can not find the link / thread-thingy (even via search). Can any one help.
Thanks

No but I'm looking for it as well (see thread down the pub!).
I use Gmaps Pedometer:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1078661
There are plenty of other similar options, but this one is pretty easy to use.
You mean www.mapmyrun.com ??
As Chris says, there's a few variations on the same theme.
On Google Earth you can measure your runs by selecting:
tools - measure - path
and just click your way around the route.
Another good one is https://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/account/login
set yourself an account up (free) and do the same thing on an OS map
The thread I saw had links to a google earth type where you could see my house. This other one was much clearer. See what I'd got planted in the garden type stuff!
Google Earth in 'Satellite View'?
It's like that but I thought it was another company, not google.
And I'd still like to find the actual thread. There weren't many pages on it - 2 maybe.
