Miss Muddy Paws Dad....
Not clever & often stupid..
Did a full recce Sat and what a great run (hard though!) thanks for maps Stolly found route pretty well in end. Looking forward to race now.
I'm off for a reccee this afternoon - leave work at 3, start from Mam Nick at 4:30 - should be getting dark round about Grindslow Knoll ;-)
Did the second half from Mam Nick this morning. Nearly lost Ken to the bogs of Brown Knoll.
Good visibility so we tried the "down and up" from Grindslow to Ringing Roger. Didn't really find any good trods so ended up no faster than "round the edge". Also took a more direct route from the top of Jacob's Ladder to beyond Noe Stool but again I don't think we gained anything.
Had a good time yesterday evening - surprised by how quickly it went from being able to run easily to needing a headtorch to it being pitch black! It was probably because I was dropping into the valley from Ringing Roger.
Can't join you that day but would suggest that you start from Mam Nick car park and run to the finish.
You then run through the village, turn right after passing under the railway and then left up Harden Clough. The only problem with this is that you have a 30 minute mainly uphill run after you have finished the course. But parking is likely to be free as the machine is jammed at the moment!
Alternatively park in Edale and run up Harden Clough to Mam Nick before running the second half. You then have only about a 7 minute jog back to the car park. Parking is £3 for up to 4 hours.
If you are on your own the main thing to watch out for are the bogs as you approach the last climb to Brown Knoll. On recent recces at least one person has had to be pulled out after sinking knee deep!
