Question How do you all do it?

Get up on the fells so often i mean!

reading the todays training thread it seems that most members are going up winter hill (wherever that is?) or doing some off road run most of the time.

despite living in Cumbria, it's still a minimum 25min drive to the nearest proper fell for me (Northernmost Pennines or High Pike/Carrock (NorthEast of Skiddaw))

I suppose this is a FELLRUNNERS forum though eh? so I shouldnt be so surprised. I would love to live even nearer to the lakeland fells. Am tentatively looking at properties in the Cockermouth area. Bloody dear though!!!

Most days I have to trudge round on the streetlamp-lit roads within the city.
So is it just me or are many others often exasperated by not getting on't fells as much as one would like?

Yes, but if you had the single greatest lakeland fell on your doorstep would you still sit there wishing there was a wider variety than the one that you run up and down every day?? At least it's 25 mins, not 3 hours!

Me? I treat kerbs as an inviting challenge to be conquered.....

I'm down in the Cotswolds and although it's pretty hilly it's just not the real deal. The Black Mountains are a good 1-1/2 hours away and the holy grail of the Lakeland fells are beyond my reach on a regular basis. I'm up in Keswick for four days in March but other than that I have to make do with checking my lottery results and Premium Bonds so i can retire or go an a 3-day week at least. I got £5.70 on Euromillions last week. It's a start!

I wish I could go on hills a bit more. Actually a lot more I seem to have so much else to do though!

I live 20-30 mins from any sort of a proper hill. I work up flexi & take most Friday afternoons off for an effort session & try to get out early on a Sunday morning for a long run. As the evenings get lighter I'll be out on Wednesday evenings as well.
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

I live on the 800ft contour, there is a hill in front, a hill behind - all directions point upwards. I go out the door and up a hill.

Am I happy? Of course I'm bloody not, I want bigger hills, different coloured hills, rocky hills, all downhills.

Just got to live with it mate, whatever you have, the grass is always greener ......etc.etc.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.
