Post Buff Skyrunner World Series 08

Has anybody done the International SkyRace, Valmalenco (Italy, June 8) or
Vallnord SkyRace, La Massana (Andorra June 29)
    www.buffskyrunner.com/

Thinking of doing both these, just wondering where the closest airport was and if anybody knows any good accomodation.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know the races, but I lived not far from Val Malenco most of my life and been there walking perhaps a dozen times. I think the best way to get there is flying low cost to Bergamo (near Milano), rent a car and drive 3-4 hours (I'm afraid most flights land there in the evening).

Ask me more in case you need help with arranging schedule, etc.

Is this really the Ben Nevis race?

I don't understand... the race has been full since last September.
Are they going to release a bunch of new places for foreigners?
In which case, could you pretend to be a foreigner to get a Ben Nevis entry?
... not that I need to, as I have my entry already.

I just don't understand how they could accommodate a whole bunch
of extra runners at Ben Nevis.

Tom Owens, among others seems to have done a few of these last year. Try contacting him. Actually, does anyone have a contact for him? I wouldn't mind a chat with him myself.....

Gamatte is certainly offering good advice too.

Thanks for the info, I had looked and found some flights to Bergamo but was unsure about the travelling from the airport to the race venue.
Is it a fairly simple route easy to follow? (from the airport to the race venue)

They have reserved a bunch of places for foreigners, much the same as they did for the three peaks race, unsure of how many places though.

I just tried Google maps, gives good indication. The airport is actually in Orio al Serio (which is near bigger Bergamo, which is near bigger Milano). You don't drive through Milano or even near it, just pass near Bergamo (not through it).

The place to get to is probably Chiesa in Val Malenco, a small town but by far the biggest in the area.

The 20-30 miles along the Como Lake are very scenic, pity you won't see much at night .

    Google maps says 130km, 2h15m.
