mines rh side ,but basically i thought i had a groin strain ,had a slight swelling in the crease between leg and groin on the under pant line, it feels like a dull ache and ive had a smack in the nuts and as if the right ones on a bit shorter string than the left one.over exerting brings on the ache more. as you said "everything" works ok, and im still easy running but cant push it. hope this helps rhosgadmath. yours sounds possible thats how mine started off.get yourself to docs and get it checked mate .hope it goes well

I had a right inguinal hernia fixed before christmas, was out for 6 weeks but back now running well. I had to slow my descending prior to having it fixed as my gut kept bulging through. I found wearing tight pants under my shorts helped a bit, i eventually got a jockstrap which helped alot.

    Re: running with a hernia

Well I've had a hernia on both sides - two small swellings - for several years and am running and racing well on it (ok, reasonably well for one of my age!!).

I went to the doctor and they said I'd be fine to keep going as normal, just to stop and go back to them if the swelling got any worse, which it hasnt.

So go and get it checked out and see what they say, it will depend on how severe the hernia is.

Sorry, I've just read your post more carefully and realise you have had it checked out. But didnt they give you any advice on what to do next??? Go back and ask them again, emphasise that you are an active runner and dont want to stop!

I had the same thing done about the same time as you (2 days after Tinto tbh).
Old un, I'd been running with it for about 18months (ish). Never really painful but very annoying, if that makes sense. Long slow runs (eg Ochils 2000 race), and even long days out walking used to aggravate it most.

I was told to take six weeks off, but as I had a foot op a couple of weeks later I wasn't able to run for that time anyway. Back running and not had a problem with it (although same can't be said for the rest of my injury list....)

Mind you it is an awful lot of hassle just to get a bit of goretex right enough.

If i was you- i'd go and see a specialist on the matter. I know of a very good one in sheffield on the nhs- PM me if you want to get transfered!
