Will the route for this year be the same as the map and grid references in the attached thread?

    Almost certainly.
Punching numbers at the large cairn was to ensure runners passed to the left of Swines Back.
If this changes you will be told at registration.

Protecting Newly Planted Cotton Grass & Landscape Restoration
This year it's most likely that there will be a flagged/compulsory/controlled section on the race course, from around Red Brook through to Edale Cross (so far - going to the Edale/East Side of Swines Back), this is at the request of the Land Owners (National Trust) who have an on-going initiative of Landscape Restoration, involving amongst other things planting CG seedlings in the eroding areas of peat on Kinder.
Last year a few racing runners strayed among the team of NT Planters during the course of the race, which caused a bit of amusement & a degree of anxiety .

Keep an eye on http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/ for updates.

I'd welcome that. It's the one section of the course that I'm not too sure of the right line.

And the section us KFR'ers love the best.....
quite a few choices & fav' lines ......
and plenty of opportunity to gain a few places in the muck & murk .....
there have often been a few who stray well off piste in this section of the race....
some have even made to Edale ......... (and eventually back!)

(a growing list of entrants to be found at......... http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/ )
