    Sportiva Fell shoes

    Have you seen these:

    http://www.lasportiva.com/catalogue/...31&Language=EN

Look comfy and broad fitting which may be a god send to us fat footers, with such restricted options.

A few are trialling pairs around here, look nice, hopefully they shoul be in shops soon enough.

580g per pair or 290g per shoe as it says on the site.

Isn't that the same as Innov-8's?

I thought the Inov-8 munclaw 270's were called that as a size 8 shoe weights 270g, so a pair weights 540g?

They cerainly feel the same weight.

I'd say the sole is mid way between an aggressive inov8/walsh and the soloman speed cross's.

Strange though the font half has the 'D' shaped grip facing towards the toes, and he back half facing the usual 'D' shaped way. Supposedly it's to provide greater heal grip..not sure on that one, looks a gimic.

But apart from that they look nice, the laces cover looks a bit of a gimic too.

The sole is quite cushioned, I think they'll be a nice addition to the market. A broad shoe, cushioned sole, good drip, if they are durable then they'll do well.

Look at how well montrails have done, but unfortunately they are too narrow for me.

    Look OK,
but I will reserve judgment until they have been tested.

    Re: Sportiva Fell shoes

My wife and at least one other runner I know of are testing them at the moment, she's raving about them and has been wearing them ahead of her 270 mudclaw's for usual training runs due to comfort. However I think when she races next she'll still go with the 270's as it's a more aggressive sole. The main thing is durability though. As a broad footed runner I only have the option of walsh ultras and soloman speedcrosses as an out right fell shoe, I can wear terrocs, but not mudclaws/rocs. But the PB's only Solomans SX's last a few hundred miles (250ish) before the mesh fell apart (Solomans) or the sole looked like a slick (walshes).

Comfort? All well and good, but it's not what you want for fellrunning, is it?
