I've only ever run the 3P badly or very badly but, this year touch wood I'm hoping to do maybe 4:20. In our recent recce me and Mudlugger did it, with an extended 2 mile circuit on Whernside and in horrible weather, in a smidge under 5 hours without busting any guts..... which I'm taking as a good omen.

As for Edale who knows as the weather has every chance of making that a bugger - maybe 4 hours?

I think Mudlugger said it took just under 5 hours with the little bit extra.

    Good luck for Edale!

Sorry my previous post was bollocks - the final times for Rob Jebb and Lloyd taggart for Edale were in the 2:50 to 2:45 range so both races are very very similar.

Well the map I've got shows most if not all of Whernside 'race route' being on 'Open Access' land.

According to this guy its environmentally protected but that doesn't mean to say he's right.

The walkers’ route around 3P is about 2 miles (3km) longer than the race route and there is no problem recceing the walkers’ route. However the race route goes through a environmentally protected area, directly up the steep face of Whernside. You must not recce here, instead take the slabbed walkers route which is a bit longer but still good training.
Mind you going up there on race day is enough for me - forget practicing it!

Mmm.. me being environmentally friendly will give it a miss until race day then. Maybe I could do another reccy on clear day then at least I can see what it looks like eh.
    Cheers stolly.
I had a full weeks rest after last weeks reccy, just got back into it yesterday. Heres to race day!!!
