    One massive bit of advise...take the first big climb - is it Grisedale - take it steady. I already had tired legs before I started but I really suffered. Had a shocker of a race and seemed to be going backwards!

    That's about right Al, a farm it is. And be careful on the track below Causey Pike before Barrow, it's a rocky one and easy to turn an ankle or worse.
    Grisedale Pike is a long hard slog but if the weather's good it's a cracking view all round.

    Coledale is an English Championship Race in 2012 so take the opportunity this year (April 16th) to use the race as a recce !!!!
    Anyone can get fit, it's being hard that's the hard bit

    Race starts and finishes at Braithwaite Lodge Farm this year, not the campsite !!!

    Great route is this, tough, neverending climb up Grisedale Pike and the rest is tough as well, just out of interest has it ever been used as an English Champs race before?
