Which fell shoes for Sabre?

Dear forum,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've recently started running on the fells with my Alsatian Sabre. Now I saw that sled dogs are sometimes fitted out with shoes, and I thought it might be best if I got some for Saber especially with all the wet weather we've been having.

He takes a size 1 (more or less, he doesn't like having his paws measured), so do you think I could buy some kids' Walsh PBs size 4, cut them up into quarters and tape them onto his paws?

I've watched him running from behind (this gets me a few funny looks from walkers) and I think he's overpronating quite a lot. Would the Montrail Highlanders be more appropriate then?

Any advice much appreciated.
