    Always wore Hunters myself, but then I liked leaving the buckles undone so you could hear the chink chink noise when you walked........seriously though have you tried 'muckers' always wore these round the yard and for riding the horse in far better grip than wellies....lighter on the feet too...

    The only time I've ever run in my wellies was when I trod on a wasps' nest .

    cheers emmilou. I'm currently of the thinking that a bit of extra weight is a benefit at the moment. Nothing like putting your fell shoes on for feeling light footed after a heavy pair of wellies. Cheers for the advice though. I did think I'd seen people in wellies that looked more like slipper, will investigate further.
