Now look you lot, there's some really subversive activity going on out there. Anyone who is anyone knows that the only acceptable uniform for a real fellrunner is walshes on yer feet, smelly-helly (blue only) on yer back and some old rag around yer loins. Anything else marks you out as some johnny-come-lately or sad interloper from fashion-addicted road running mentality.
If the walshes hurt at first it's coz you have not bashed them in enough. No pain, no gain.

Walshes?? With studs for extra grip??? That's virtually cheating.... Now where's my Dunlop greenflashes!!

(I probably wouldn't be any worse if I did wear dunlop greenflashes!)

Aye, and if you are really up for cheating, I'll allow Walsh spikes, y'know, them with the two spikes in the heel for really fast descents or heightened pleasure in the SM parlour.

It's true! Last Sunday during the X-country I had as the french might say "un bon momment" as my Walshes finally gave up the battle that they have been waging with my feet. No longer do they feel 3 sizes too small, no longer do I have red weeping blisters on both heels and no longer do I feel like throwing them in the bin after every race. I love 'em, now all I've got to do is become a good runner and I'll be unstoppable.
