I agee with you Bill. I debated the whole concept of 'record times' with martin stone in the winter. my view is that its a nonsense because its so conditions dependent. I think you should just note the time and also note the conditions quite carefully, ie depth of average snow cover, state of snow, depth of drifts, temperature, etc and take pictures and let others make their minds up as to whether it constitutes a 'winter' round.

Just got back from Loch Mullardoch. I used those Kahtoola crampons on rock hard neve and ice. They're very good, but i'm not convinced about those rubber bands containing the straps. I dn't think that they'll last very long. still a good idea.
