I think the range has spilled over from niche-filling into plain old confusing. If a forum full of enthusiasts can't keep track, what hope has the great unwashed?

And the poor old retailer hasn't a hope of keeping any sort of decent stock levels. I travelled 30 miles to a specialist shop and they had bugger all for me to try. So I came home with Walshs. I do admire what Inov-8 have done, but I can't see that their vast range is doing them any favours.

Much as I like the Inov-8's that I have had, they still haven't got a viable racing shoe for me. Mudclaw 270 has the right sole, but a badly designed upper. Mudclaw 330 has the right sole but just weighs too much. They need something like the Mudroc 280 with a soft rubber Mudclaw type sole.

    Totally agree!

Or just stop the 270 upper from falling to bits!

From what I hear we aren't their target market, over half their sales are in the States and the Yanks demand a different shoe for every occasion, hence the vast range.

Presumably Americans don't expect their shoes to last as long as British fellrunners, or maybe they don't run on such rough terrain?

This is true and I will be trying the new ones quite soon. If I don't like them I will obviously blame Graham and his like for putting pressure on them to change something that didn't need changing .

Or perhaps they have a higher disposable income/aren't so tight fisted. Delete as applicable .

I don't like the diagonal lacing design of the 270's. They're okay for short races, but anything over 5 miles or so and they left my feet battered. I can't remember when I last actually wore a pair of shoes out. Why am I on this forum again??

They buy twice as many pairs, so they last twice as long. Elapsed time obviously....
