I slow cooked a chicken carcass with a rake of root veg over the weekend, it made a great broth with some barley thrown in.

We bought a sack of rolled barley this week to feed the geese and fatten them for Christmas. The geese don’t like it - or have a cunning plan to not get fat for Christmas - we shall try cooking it next, perhaps a barley porridge will appeal to them?
    Just mentioning.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Church lunch today. These events happen maybe three times a year, typically in connection with a special event (today two people were baptised). The regulars at the church bring food that they have prepared, and with our members including people from all over Europe, Asia and Africa, there's always an amazing variety of food - not to mention the amazing quantity. Yes, I have over-eaten today.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

When the geese are talking to each other and think you aren't listening - what do they say?
"...as dry as the Atacama desert".

Why has he given us silly names like cranberry, sprout, potatoe, gravy?
