Steamed whole mackerel topped with ginger and tomato; stir-fried purple sprouting broccoli and celery; rice.

I am a lover of fish whether it be catching, tickling, killing, gutting or especially eating but am always uneasy when those eyes are looking up at me from my plate!

The first time I went to Singapore, we went out with my brother-in-law's family to a restaurant where we had fish-head curry. I'm not sure what species of fish it was, but something rather big. The head sits in the curry pot in the middle of the table, and we all just dip in with our forks, extracting whatever meat we can find. I was offered one of the eyes, but I declined the offer; they weren't offended, it meant that one of the others could have this delicacy.
