Hi Fly! I didn't enter this year. Did the equally spectacular Lakeland 100 instead this year - so have got all the points i need if i decide to go for it next year (if there are any places up for grabs...)Wish I was there too Britta. Did you not get through the ballot or did you just not enter.
Does anyone know how the PTL finished - and which team was first (although it's non-competetive of course :wink
as far as i understand, runners in the UTMB were offered the option to run a 'CCC' styled race (approx half the race). about 1500 started at 10.15AM today

a combined utmb and tds apparently started today from courymeur at 10am
was on the course coming down to the gorge above contamines 2 hours before the runners would have gone up, the rock that whizzed by 10m away was at least 1m wide _ at least it would have been quick....
And they were the only team to complete the course.

BGSec asked me to let you know that in the CCC he managed to get to Vallorcine in about 19 and an half hours, before being told the race was abandoned and he was shipped back to Chamonix - very disappointed.
Descents down were continually getting worse on the way round and down to Valllorcine was treacherous, like a mudslide in places, taking a long time. Poles needed on the tops to stay upright. Though he felt he could have continued to the end physically - only complaints were about his feet (or what is left of them from being permanently wet and muddy!).
Believe he is having a beer in Chamonix at this moment with one of the guys who was turned back on the UTMB and got the message about the new 'CCC' race to late to join in.
Sure he will tell you all/more on his return.

Only just turned the computer back on. I thought the UTMB was all finished but find Jez and Lizzie both in the lead in this replacement CCC!!
