Do many Clubs still have mottos? For example:

"Run hard, be strong, think big!"
Strength and Honour Rochdale

Danbert seems to believe that his Club should have an appropriate motto and cry.

I am not so sure that he is correct.

Recent research in an old local newspaper has uncovered more information about the origins of the S&H phrase:

The annual contest for the seventh junior cross country championships of the Northern Counties at Haydock Park Racecourse were decided on Saturday....The field numbered 297 runners...The favourite Charlie Straw (Warrington A.C.) won in 41 min 23 sec. The winning team was Rochdale Harriers (Schofield 8, Sucksmith 13, Danbert* 16, Butterworth 19, Holt 37, Riley 47 - total 140 points....Rochdale Harriers seem to have developed a sadistic love in their hedonistic pursuit of this trophy during the last few years....
