And I've just seen the first bluebells here in Leicestershire: just one flower spike in the Outwoods, but more in the wood next to the path to Buck Hill.

Plenty of white blossom on the blackthorn in my garden. And the daffodils have been out for over a week now.

Tulips stems are starting to protrude from the leaves.

    Best time of the year.

Too wet to plant or sow anything outdoors. The over-wintering garlic and shallots are looking quite sorry for themselves though hopefully they will pick up if we have a decent spell of warm weather.

Tonight's run has plenty of signs of spring. Only needed the head torch for the second half, blackthorn in bloom, bluebells starting to push their heads up through the leaf litter and plenty of bleating from the lambing shed as I ran past. All signs we have survived another winter and it won't be long before we can feel some true warmth in the sun.

Heard the first ice-cream van of Spring today, and we haven't even got to the Spring Equinox. No sign of the first cuckoo, though.
