I’m thinking about trying this race. Does anyone have an altitude/mileage graph?
I’m just trying to find out what the climbs are like.
Cheers
Craig.
Craig,
I've never got quite so technical as graphs ( plus the ones that I've seen tend to be rather distorted as the x & y axis are so out of proportion).
Basically there is a moderate climb up Blasterfoot Gap as you head W out of the village, then it is undulating but rough ( limestone and shrubbery ) until you hit the M6 then there is a stonking climb up a scree slope ( would not be out of place in the Wasdale) as you turn for home. Then more undulations, limestone and shrubbery until you drop back into the village - a good line N of Blasterfoot Gap.
Craig, Don't worry.just do it. I once won a bottle of Famous Grouse at Hutton Roof Fell Race for coming last. New shoes!!!
Destiny, though, as I guided a colour-blind runner who was lost in the grikes, he went astray as he couldn't see the blue flags. There's a tricky bit on the way back, where you run through a clump of bushes and some undergrowth. There's a even a great leap from a 6 foot crag onto a grass bank if you get a slighly wrong line! It's great fun though.
cheers guys! sounds like a good un!
cakes too..mmm
anyone partaking in this on Saturday ? Looks like a nice route.
yeah hoping to run this for the first time too!
i'll be there for the third time
