    Re: kinder trog

I had a run orund the route last year with Swoop, its a nice race.

Cant remember if I did my self a map or relied on Colins local knowledge.

He also took me for his usual post race feed and a pint. Cant remember the pub.

Am I right in saying the end of the race almost runs through someones back garden.

You must be local - I've only heard 1 or 2 others call it the 'Lime field'

This is the old route. After Kinder Low you head for Edale Cross, cross over the bridleway & head down into the bottom of the infant River Sett. (Beeline for South Head, virtually). Then a steep climb out of the valley back onto the old route. You don't have to go over South Head (although Lloyd did last year & still set a new record) - just skirt round it.

SteveT normally comes along around now & posts a map of the route. I seem to remember Phil W. & a few others last year drew a sketch map of the route on the back of their race numbers!

You basically steam off up Swallowhouse Lane to Sunnyside and then up to Lantern Pike summit, drop down and across the Lime Field, past Blackshaw and Matleymoor farms to Monks Road. At the end of this cross the A624 to pick up the well reinforced path over Burnt Hill and past the old Liberator to Mill Hill. From then on it's the Kinder Downfall route, except you drop down to the gate at the top of Jacobs Ladder before following the flagged path over past Brown Knoll to South Head. Then tracks take you down to Peep'o'Day and up past Whiterakes to Big Stone - then its over to the bridleway at New Allotments, and finish almost like the Crack Edge race except you keep going to return to the finish at Hayfield Scout Hut.

Mileage used to say 18m, now says 16m (which is more like) for same route.

    Good race.

Thanks for that I couldn't find Big Stone on the map

    Thanks for that too.

A course map would be very handy

Profile is here but ignore the bit over South Head. The race stays on the bridlepath through the col.

I told you he would! Well done Steve.

A week before my BG attempt - I didn't ought to be racing, so I'll probably just have a steady jog around.

We can trot round together, if you like. I don't want you getting injured either!
