This is my first post on this forum, so hello everybody. I currently live in Hertfordshire (Welwyn Garden City) and despite training with a local athletic group it would be really good to hear from anyone in the area that shares an intrest in fell running. I have my eye on a few races this year and plan to make a few trips up to the lake district. Any groups of keen fell runners around?

I can't really help you with your question though, apart from the fact that there are some runners from Tring (I think that's fairly near you) who venture up onto the fells. Some are on the forum I believe and will no doubt point you in the right direction (north! )

Thanks, FITC, for pointing us out! I'm getting a bit embarassed about plugging my club on here...

Some info on Tring running club here anyway. We do a lot of the local off-road races, the local cross country league, and travel for various fell races, mountain marathons, fell relays etc. It happens that many of the better runners in the club are more interested in the fells etc than anything else, we are just geographically challenged!

If you're already a member of Garden City then it might be a bit difficult with first-claim stuff when it comes to doing races and relays with us. I suspect you're more looking for others like yourself who want to compete on the fells but have the whole running club base going already and want to hang on to that.

Anyway, don't let me put you off, we do have some relatively distant members who joined primarily for the fell runnning side of things. You're welcome at club nights any time - just remember your head torch!

You anywhere near Chelmsford? Springfield Striders do quite a lot of races - I think they'll probably have been in action this weekend at Long Mynd (and whatever the race is on Saturday that it gets paired with).

Yes we were in action in Mercia country this weekend.

There's often a contingency of us that venture t'up North for various events.

We were out in force at Box Hill too.
