    Cotswold Way Relay

Just interested to see if anyone from the Forum is taking part - 103 miles, 10 stages, chipping Camden to Bath.

And this year's entries are now open if anyone is interested - but judging by past responces, it appears not!

What happened to the other 2 miles? I was part of an "extended recce" this weekend and it came out as 105 miles.

The Three Peaks Yacht Race has broken the habit of a lifetime and I'm doing leg 1 this year (for Nextwave Harriers). I need to get to Barmouth for 2pm!

This is a great event. It gets a lot of people interested in running on the hills and its great to go out recce-ing with your mates after work.

The race seems to get more popular every year. Weren't there 60 teams / 600 runners last year?

Well done Zlod, a great acheivement, especially considering you obviously had some prettty awful weather! Dave Burton was telling me about it when I saw him at the Castles Relay on Saturday - he must have been gutted to have had to drop out. Good write up on runfurther, and thanks for the Relay plug - should be 60 teams again - http://www.runfurther.com/media/pdf_...y_traverse.pdf

I'm aware of the following who've done the whole distance:
    • Frank Thomas - 1994 - 22 hrs 23 mins
    • Greville Mills - 1997 - 25 hrs (ish!) and an abortive attempt the following year when he had to drop out at Dyrham - so near!
    • Bryan Stadden - 1999 - 23 hrs 51 mins
    • Rupert Marsden - 1999 - 25hrs (ish!) - solo unsupported - whatever happened to him?
    • Martin Humphries - 2007 - sub 24hrs
    • Martin Beale - 2008 - 22hrs 44min
    • Kevin Stroud - 2008 - 23 hrs 07mins
Do you know of anyone else?

Best of luck in the Three Peaks Yacht Race - see you at Chipping Camden!

Comment from Charlie, the Relay organiser "The answer to the 103 mile question is that having got GPS maps for the whole course, I applied NASA’s elevation and distance correction to the route, and got 103 miles in total. However, with a total of 3,500 metres of climb, the distance over ground may be stretched, as I don’t know if the GPS distance correction measures a flat course or the course surface"
