Looks like the course will be pretty much the same as last year... only difference is that the run out across the fields at the bottom will go all the way to the public footpath rather than cutting the corner off to the footbridge...

I've marked it up in google maps. Search for "teggs nose fell race" in google maps and you should find a marked up route (satellite pictures only!)

Course is also pretty wet and sh***y in a couple of places, but I suppose we should be grateful it's not under a foot of water!

Welsh Harrier - you bringing any of the family as marshalls/helpers?

Will let you know but most likely will be on my own. This is all provided my wounds have mended from Snowdon!

macc lad - thanks for the map - very helpful!

re junior race - roughly what distance is it? and how serious? i.e. will my untrained 8-yr old lad get round it without looking like a prawn at the back?
oh, and what time does it start?

The junior race is fairly unofficial - it's not run to FRA rules, it's run by the sheepdog people as a fun event associated with the trials. It's a flat race around the trials field, maybe 2/3rds of a mile? They give prizes for 2 classes, U10 and U15. I expect there aren't many kids U8 doing it, though my 2 (6 and 8 y.o.) might have a go.

I think they had about 25 kids do it last year, and they started it at 2pm. Funny thing is they charged £2 per entry for the junior race, but the main fell race is free (well so long as you pay entry to the sheepdog show).

Re. the main race route - I've added a marked up map for the marshalls here. The junior race is just the first loop you can see.

    Thanks Again Macc Ladd!

sorry for all the questions, but you don't happen to know when the sheepdog trials themself actually start? i.e. from what time can you get onto the field?
