On a slightly related note for anyone who's making a weekend of it, I phoned Chapel Farm today for a forecast of availability details over the weekend as I was hoping to stay in borrowdale for a few days after the race to go walking. They're opening up the field opposite the normal campsite with additional bogs and drinking water to cater for potential extra capacity due to the race. Don't know prices, a few months ago it was 6 quid ph/pn on the usual site.

it's a bit basic but only about 10 mins walk from Scafell Hotel. I like it because there's no extra charges for car parking and you don't need to sign in. Simply pitch your tent and the nice lady wakes you up around seven a.m for cash per head. I read somewhere that another temporary campsite was being set up for the race, sounded like in the field opposite the hotel but I'm coming down from Scotland so don't want to have to pitch there for a night then move on for the rest of my trip so am quite happy to go back to Chapel farm again.

Please advise if still available - either email my work address [email protected] (best as I'll see it quickly) or 07787 948671 or 01204 697845 (but that'll be after 5pm).
Likewise Disco Stan - if available

I was going to go up and do a training run/support others/maybe a few photos but as I managed to get my second qualifying run in at Tebay and some good walk/runs in Switzerland over the past weeks, I ought to be able to JUST cope with getting to Honister by the cutoff time and hopefully have the legs to complete over Dale Head (hate that when knackered).

    Ta, Gordon

Yeah the camp site is a cheap as chips an does the job perfectly. The showers were piping hot last year.

Just don't be banking on a lie in as she's up with the lark collecting your cash......and woe betide if you don't answer that knock on ya tent.
