8M/2400ft, 2:00pm from Rowen village (nr Conwy)
just found this race on the WFRA site
sounds ideal for me as part of training up for Snowdon a fortnight later
anybody got a map of the route?
anybody else doing it?

done it a few times nice race quite fast though, basicaly its a steep climb out of the village of Rowen ,a flatish bit to the foot of Tal y Fan,up Tal y Fan and over the other side, over the moor towards the stone circle and basicaly go round Taly fan and back down to the Village.in simple terms its up,over, round & down.it all on good paths exept the moors bit
I really liked this race last year, remember it as quite tough though, and I fell down at one point (at the rocks at the top) and bent my finger back and eleven months later it still doesn't straighten properly! Will be doing this race again hopefully.
thanks guys, I think I get the general idea, but...
looking at the map, there's a path that goes up to the col between Tal y Fan and Foel Lwyd - presumably you then go up to the Tal y Fan trig? (although no path on map)
from trig, do you then go back down to the col, or just head straight north (no path, and looks very craggy!)
once heading for the stone circles, presumably you go to the right (east) of Moelfre before picking up the North Wales Path? presumably there is a CP somewhere around this point?
after rounding the foot of Cefn Maen Amor (another CP?), do you immediately start dropping into the farmland and drop below Craig Celynin, or contour round higher up and stay above Craig Celynin?
is this enough questions?
thanks to Pete Mac for emailing me a map
looks like you do just jump straight off the top
and the return stays above Craig Celynin
Pete said the map should be on the teamdolly website soon, but if anybody wants me to send them one then PM me...
Did this race last year and found it quite tough going in places mainly because I had not done much training leading up to it. Hoping I can make it again this year with better results?
Follow the path up towards the bwlch, over the wall via the styl near the top . Follow the footpath up for a bit further then bash off for the trig point. From the top it's another bash left accross some heather to pick up a decent path and track. This curls around to the right for a few yards Follow it for a bit then turn off left to follow a good track ( it's start point is not very obvious for the first few yards) towards the stone circles on the horizon.
some info on the website
