I did Ennerdale on my 40th birthday - well what else would you do if it was on your birthday - and my wife didn't talk to me for weeks.

I did the Wadsworth Trog on my wifes 40th so I could qualify for my first peaks.

Actually she would be really cross if she saw this as we are not married, we have only been together the 20 years, one has to be sure about these things.

I suppose people sometimes criticise what they don't understand as others have already said, especially when its something which that they might feel is tough and they would not be able to do, such as fell running.
or maybe comments about you doing too much or that you are always off doing something are aimed at you when they feel your hobby gets in the way of you doing other things perhaps involving them..

Sounds a little over the top though!! I could better understand critism for NOT doing anything and NEVER going anywhere!
karen i think your looking tired

I get all the usual criticism from family, friends etc."YOUR'E MAD", "YOU MUST BE CRACKERS" "WHY BOTHER"
but it always then amuses me when I take my 7 year old to a race and he does the junior run. Last one was Garburn Trail, where he finished 8th. And what comments does he get
    "ISN'T THAT GREAT." "OH BLESS"
but the asolute classic is the
" HE'S GOING TO BE A RUNNER LIKE IS DAD"

Advice to son "DON'T GROW UP."
