But "Firstly" isn't. You meant "First" (if your posting meant anything).

I think its very simple...just like me!
There are literally hundreds of fell races where we can start where the hell we like, celebrate our individuality, bump along with the superstars etc etc.

BUT....if a race is a championship race, surely its only fair to allow the potential champions a fair crack by not getting them caught in an early bottleneck, especially a short course race where any lost ground is unlikely to be made up?
What do the potential champions think??
