    Wainwright 7

The talk on the forum inspired me to have a go at this on Sunday. I completed the route solo unsupported from Ambleside going clockwise, ie High Raise, Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Grasmoor, Skiddaw, Helvellyn, High Street. I measured the route on my Garmin apart from the first 3 and a half hours which I measured on the map. I make it 64.5 miles, so just 1 mile shorter than my measuring of the BG but 18000 feet as opposed to 27000. I finished in 17 hours 45 mins. Its excellent training for the UTMB which was my purpose. Long climbs and descents interspersed with long flat bits which I'm not very good at.

Reminded me of how tough the UTMB will be - makes me quite apprehensive!

Nice one John! I like your zero preparation low-key style.

too right - I'll still be pondering on whether to have a go at this in 3 years time. Full Moon Addict should change his avatar to Carpe Diem!!

that said, I did manage a trip round the Old Crown Round on sunday morning, which was pretty inspiring in itself.

Nice one, sounds a hell of a day. I've done almost no training for the UTMB, just been fell racing generally, so will start to get a few longer days in now. Doubt I'll do anything over 12 hrs though as I want to be Ok to race each weekend.

FMA does not need much prompting or persuasion when it comes to a challenge!

So, who's going to be next to join the 'W7 club'?

It does have a certain ring about it. An advantage of only having 7 proper peaks rather than 42 bumps
