Must admit... I like the fact that you are climbing the peaks "properly" rather than just ticking 'tops' off along a ridge.

I also think it would make a good stepping stone for aspiring BG-ers.

I don't think an actual club is required but it would be nice for someone to keep a register of completions (oh, go on then...)

FMA, you are No.1 on the list as I haven't heard of anyone else doing a run round it.

Anyone else who is thinking of having a go - PM me.

someone has sent me a private message to say that he's going to have a go on his next free weekend, so I'll ask him to let you know how he gets on.

not sure about a stepping stone to a BG - I think its just a bit too long for that.

Well done FMA!! Just seems a pity it doesn't take in Coniston OM, hence leaves out a big chunk of the Lakes. (What would that do to the stats?)

yes would be nice to include coniston old man but to keep the route logical I'd then leave out high raise, as otherwise, the route would be somewhat contrived.

    The Trundler Round sounds good.

Do we get a certificate if we do it

    Why the Wainright 7 anyway?

Ignorant on the lakes so apologies if that's a dumb question.

Are they the 7 highest wainrights or 7 highest wainrights on each of the principle hill groups?

What's the logic behind the round?

    Cheers

They are the highest summits in each of the respective volumes of Wainwright's walking guides.

    How about the Wainwright 8.

Include the outlying fells highest Walna Scar

    Off you go FMA

    Re: Wainwright 7

It would have been more sensible if Wainwright had included Scafell Pike in the Central Fells (where it belongs), thereby making Coniston Old Man the highest hill in the Southern Fells (which it is). That way you could have ditched High Raise and included Coniston Old Man instead.

How does Birkett divide his fells? Or is it just one big compendium of fells, his may be the way to go if you feel that the old man should be included. Failing that how about taking in the highest summit of each of the big lakeland massifs, which off the top of my head would be
    Old Man
    Scafell Pike
    Great Gable
    Dale Head
    Grassmoor
    Skiddaw
    Blencathra
    Helvellyn
    High Raise
    Fairfield
    and High Street.
Not a definitive list just a suggestion.
It could be argued that Pillar should be included in that, but it could be argued to be part of the southern arm of great gable, as argued by wainwright that the High Stile and Pillar ridges are pokes from the centre of a wheel. Plus you'd get more hills climbed.
