Either this or Bollington, both of them new to me. Favouring Bollington as there's more climb (but further to drive....). Any suggestions?

Many Thanks to RO and his band of marshals/helpers for a superbly organised race
    a healthy turnout of 74
    yummy homemade cakes
great route (my first time atop Eldon Hill!) would normally be a bit too runnable for my liking, but strangely enjoyable!

In my ongoing quest to try out races I haven't previously done it was the turn of Peak Forest to be ticked off.

On further investigation I discover that Peak Forest is the name of the village that gives the race its name...not what I'd previously imagined. My thoughts were of a Peak District setting...correct. With a race route consisting mainly of forestation...wrong.

I should've known the village of Peak Forest, I've driven through it enough times whilst on my way to other races around this area...Great Hucklow and Tideswell to name just two that are literally a stones throw away.

On arrival and after a closer inspection of the race route it's looking likely I could go a wandering it certainly wouldn't be the first time. The terrain is predominantly tracks and fields with the high point being Eldon Hill. It looked like a fast course and it turned out to be exactly that, with only the last pull up Eldon reducing me to a walk. To credit the organisers the route was really well marked with white arrows sprayed onto the grassy surface every few hundred yards. If I'd somehow missed an arrow my mate Chris Jackson was always in view and I knew Chris had ran the race before. Thankfully it was all plan sailing with no mishaps on what turned out to be a lovely, if not slightly humid morning.

    Thanks to all involved.
    Darren Fishwick, Chorley.

it does seem daft that this and Great Hucklow were run on the same day this year when so close.

It was a gorgeous race on a gorgeous day. First time also for me. It was good see you there and have a chat, Daz.

It seemed strange to run a route I've done so many times before, but in reverse and at 100% effort instead of 50%. The outward leg to the sharp left turn is the reverse of the Bullock Smithy Hike route around the 23 mile mark. It was my first time up Eldon Hill and the final pull was the only bit where I had to walk. It is a painfully runnable route and strangely pleasurable. I managed to take a few photos as well.
