    Today's Bike Ride

Well, with the announcement that GFRCEA '08 is a goer, I cracked out the GT 2000, gave it a quick squirt of WD40, wiped the spiders off and went a quick 20 miler around Skenfrith.

God, we are blessed with some of the most beautiful country here. I think I was passed by at least 3 cars in the entire time I was out. Sweeping tarmac, epic views, grinding climbs....me an' the bike eat 'em all up. I could get used to this!

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Was due to go MTBing on the 35k course this morning. Started coughing yesterday and coughed all day and all night, so had to phone my mate ths morning and cancel . Feel sh*t and depressed - and it's still raining. Will have a gentle walk instead.

2 bikes all clean and polished in the shed and nobody to peddle them

Snotted, gobbed, coughed and spluttered my way round 42 miles of windy, damp mountain roads today.

Can't say I enjoyed any of it, but better than doing nothing.

At best, one is in motion, and, at worst, reaching no absolute in which to rest, one is always nearer by not standing still.

Poor Moley, nobbled by this summer flu thats doing the rounds. I've only just started feeling like doing anything again.
Anyhow, a 1 hour leg-refresher today after Pen Y Fan yesterday. Big grind up the Kymin followed by a mad swoop down forest trails at Staunton, down to the Wye and a fast 3 mile dap back along the river path to town and home....Nice!

    Ooooohhhh....me perineum!
Did a 40 miler today. Back roads to Abergavenny via the Skirrid and then a fast return along the old A40 (nicely marked out with a cycle lane). 2 hrs and 10 minutes. Bike goes well!

70 miles today with 11 others. A nice steady pace to the cafe and then 20mph average for 35 miles on the way back on my own to make an appointment. Feel quite fresh to say I haven't being doing much on it of late.

    An epic today
122miles on my bike . Headed up to buxton and then a bit further and then headed back to Ilkeston
    2nd 100mile ride over the holiday an 3 x 60mile ones.

Id forgotton what it feels like to do a very very hilly 100mile ride.

Very cold and windy as well.

Not stopped eating since i got back but should have eaten more on the bike.
Le bonk came knocking at 85miles , 2 x mars bars , 2 x cans coke, 1 flapjack, 2 bananas and i was away again.

    Off to bed soon

oh ADY , forgot to ask what overshoes do you wear for cold days , both my ones arnt up to it

Good effort Daz. I have some Planet-X neoprene overshoes. They seem OK on most rides. Forget Seal Skin socks on the bike though, they don't do it.

I have the Assos ones which seem pretty ok at keeping the feet dry and warm but I have to say am slightly disappointed given they have shredded underneath on both of them
