Ah an art fair, thats good.
Interested on your ideas about not wearing a helmet Hann. I used to not wear one but after what happened to a friend would never not wear one now.
Everyone has different views but im afraid I will always don a lid now. My specialized one is so light.

    Me too.

Hann it's never not worth wearing one. No it's not a legal requirement, in my opinon it should be.

Do you not wear one riding a horse either?

I've seen victims of a fall off a bike and a horse both with and without helmets and as a consequence would NEVER not wear one in either sport (especially on the 'orse - he was BONKERS!!!)

    Stay safe

    xx

I wear one racing and on the track, as it is compulsory...

I have my reasons: I was once out with a group of riders (horses), I was bringing up the rear for the riding school... the lady in front of me, a competent rider, was made to wear a helmet by the riding school... She wasnt happy with it, but did as asked... we rode through a dip in the land, she went with the jolting movement the horse made quite perfectly but in the process her head came back and her helmet broke her neck... She fell off her horse dead on the spot right in front of me, I even heard her spinal cord snap...

It is my life and my head so I do as I wish I am afraid...

My choice at the minute is the cannondale, Han, Ady, Daz and the rest of the serious mob how does it compare?

For what it is worth check out my bike, back a few pages. I commuted to work on this for 20 years and it is still going strong. The reason I showed this was because of the mudguard clearance and saddlebag, yes I know it looks a bit old fashioned but the last thing you need is to have to carry a rucksac (I don't need to spell that out). I only did one winter on my racing bike (whilst the other was resprayed) and I would never do that again. Anyway if you need any more info let me know. The Trek has mudguard clearance and braze-ons and only cost around £550 so it doesn't matter that it gets hammered. Plus you need lots of lights.
