    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Just been out for my ride. 55k and got battered by the driving wind and rain.:w00t:
Must do it though as I am aiming for 110k this week and my upwardly increasing scale.
Went on the old winter bike and I still like a lot of things about it compared to the new Cannondale.
One massive down is the saddle though, feels like I've been kicked in the sack.

Daz I agree with your comment on some cyclists and their choice of coloured clothing.
I was wearing my bright YELLOW montane atomic DT jacket and also had flashing front & rear cateye along with flashing unit attached to the back of my helmet.

    Better safe than sorry.

After doing about 450 miles since a really good clean the Mercian needed attention. Tlc. So I Got bored earlier and stripped it down fully. Bottom bracket out, forks out, rear mech stripped and clean, cassette off etc etc etc. Listening to absolute 80s whilst I did it. Fully cleaned and re built within an hour.
Decided then to test it so did a full hour on the rollers
    Gearing 53/19. Sweat everywhere.

50 very easy miles early this morning, what a lovely morning.
The peak district was sublime. Loads of bikies and road men and one quite slinky lady biker as well. She was quick too.
    Brilliant sunshine.
Even had a cup of tea in the layby at the side of the river at whatstandwell.
Cmon get your bikes out the weather is lovely. You can do stuff like sewing another day

    Oh how we laughed.

Bought some new frog lights for my bike yesterday, errrr well had to nip bike to the LBS today as I inadvertantly picked up 2 front frogs instead of a front and a back - oopsie. too busy looking for Christmas ideas!

Got my son some Skulls which I have to say for the money and convenience (i.e he can stash em in his school bag daily and lose them on a weekly basis) they are flippin bright as! Very impressed, much better than the frogs but I reckon I'm a bit too old to be sticking skull and crossbones on the front of the iron steed although they do come in pink
