Ady...........52 mph? was that going uphill? Did you do a hilly route yesterday? I need to find that cafe again although after drinking the tea I found it made me more thirsty and drank nearly all of that 500ml on the way home....

Daz I tend to use gels on the bike run where there's no cafe stop scheduled in, think once when I first started I had to find a corner shop and fast and down a can of coke and a marz bar.

I used the power bar ones though but only as they were the ones handed out at the Ironman (when they bloody had any ) anyway used those so the guts would be used to them they're ok but to be honest a nice cheese butty would go down well!

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I think one of the problems is i hate having a cafe stop, I just like to keep going
Gels i dont get on with but coca cola i do. Those lucozade bars are good.
The woman in the papershop at brailsford must have thought god are you mad as i staggered in and grabbed stuff.

My rides are always very hilly, climbing mostly in the peak and not a lot of flat so i should carry more food really.
52mph is about right emm. I manage that coming down into Fenny Bentley most time.

Ady when your descending do you have your hands on the drops or top of the bars.
i always feel better with my hands on the top , arse in air and nose just about touching the bars. There is no better feeling, but always thinking shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit i hope these carbon bars hold

Em - social ride from Whalley at 9:40 in the morning if you fancy it, usually 8 or so out, prob only 15.5 mph average.
Daz - I always like to cover my brakes on a fast descent so am on the drops. Once recorded 60 on the Cateye dropping into Bishopdale from the Cray side early one Sunday morning a few years back.

collected my shiny new winter hack today

Daz....fastest I've managed so far is 45mph....that was in the rain though!

This thread seems to have been taken over by 'proper bike riders' . As opposed to the likes of Wheeze and me
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

I've re-measured my daily bike ride - it's 2.1 miles each way..... Don't knock it, it's my entire training regime!

Still not running? Are you still injured or in 'Can't be arsed' mode?
