Yes, you most certainly need a cross bike Come and join me in the Welsh League...

Cross is the best cycling discipline for fell runners or ex fell runners... the closest you get to it on two wheels

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I had to wimp out of chaingang as well last night, been having these horrid dizzy spells and was just feeling too wobbly to go chainganging in the dark... Then as I decided to do some cx skills practice in my field, my back flared up

There always seems to be something stopping me from being able to be good on the bike

Least you had a good reason Hanneke - my excuses were a) it was wet, and b) spin starts and finishes earlier so I get back home by 20.30 instead of 21.30 and still have time to have some tea and relax before bed ...

At least you did something though Zoot I ended up wallowing in my own sorrow...

Feeling a bit better now after another does of painkillers, think I shall go and play with the fat cross boys tonight, and learn how it is done

I decided to go out in the dark around the local country lanes(Bowland) for a couple of hours pushed it hard for the last bendy undulated 5 miles with no long straights I managed to not let it drop below 17 & maxed out at 26,

I was well lit up you need to be
It helps there not being much traffic and being on dark and unlit roads you can see the cars coming a mile off and they can see you

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I went out for some cyclocross training with the fast boys

It was great, it was hard, it was muddy, I learnt lots and am no doubt now fitter and faster

Bike is seriously muddy again... I do seem to spend more time cleaning the bike than actually riding it! I also lost a stud/spike off my shoe

Alas that still seems to be the only one in existence. According to the UK distributer they aren't going to be available until March next year...

I thought we'd all agreed he was guilty? No need for a hearing - the fellrunners have already decided!
