    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Bad news Hanneke, is there any chance of taking pain killers and trying it or do you think that's unwise?

On a positive note I've been back to the fracture clinic and had the all clear so pleased about that, apparently this is healed if a little wonky  Attachment 6381

And 31 miles 802 ft @ 18.3 ave last night in the wind.

73k in the north wales/cheshire borderlands. Been cycling for a month now and today was the first day that my poor ar5e wasn't in ag upon finishing. I was on the verge of wearing two pairs of shorts next time out. I guess it's like anything, you wear yourself in... Sunny, chilly and breezy and had to resort to long sleeves today.

I am already on 2400 mg of ibuprofen a day by default, so the piankiller route isn't an option. I know my boundaries, they are high... if I feel like yesterday, I won't make it round... and you are talking to the girl who rode almost an entire 12 hr MTb race with a fractured collarbone...

Three Peaks is hard, very hard! And dangerous if your upper body is incapable of controlling your bike... Fingers crossed that another weeks relative rest will clear things up sufficiently. If not, c'est la vie!

One of my regular ride routes this afternoon, was thinking of a run but thought I'd take advantage of the good weather before the rain comes. From Kendal out on the Crook Road to Bowness, return via the Lyth Valley, Levens, Sedgwick and back to Kendal. 26 miles and about 2000 ft of ascent.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Managed my first ever "century plus" yesterday:- Lancaster, Crag Bank, Arnside, Sandside, Levens, Brigsteer, Crosthwaite, Winster, Bowness-on-Winderemere, Staveley-in-Cartmel, Cartmel, Grange, Meathop Moss, Sampool Bridge, Levens Bridge, Sandside, Arnside, Crag Bank, Morecambe (we were back to my mate's house with 73 miles up and I decided to "go for it" ), Lancaster, Glasson Dock, Galgate, Bay Horse, Quernmore, Caton, Brookhouse, Lancaster .... 107 miles on the bike 'puter .... no idea of the ascent, no mega climbs but multitudes of very lumpy undulations. Not quick at 11.30; but it included one puncture ..... and 3 cafe stops plus brews at 2 mates' houses ... what retirement cycling is all about.
Absolutely cracking day to be out on the bike; cloudless blue skies, warm sunshine without being too hot and not a breathe of wind.

    Ian.

I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!

Well done Ian - I've done bits of that route a couple of times and it certainly is deceptively 'lumpy'!
