Err, no (honest) I always wear an old pair of running trainers. Work on the basis that if I break down in the middle of nowhere I can walk/run home.
Feet are starting to get cold now, especially as they are always soaking wet as well.

Well you can walk in SPD - and I have - but I accept you wouldn't wish to run far without any cushioning.

One thing I noticed on Sunday on my ride, how cold my feet were compared to when running. I didn't immediately notice it, but when I got in a hot shower they were stinging like buggery...

I was also wearing running trainers.

Once it gets below five or six degrees I always wear covers over my cycling shoes. They work wonders.

I also wear covers over my shoes. My winter shoes are half a size too big which enables me to wear a thicker sock or even two pairs without restricting circulation.

Cycling shoes are generally tight fitting and I think that lack of circulation amplifies the discomfort caused by the cold.

For real wet and cold winter conditions I treated myself to a pair of North Wave Arctic Celsius 2 GTX boots, although pricey, are worth their weight in gold!

    Typical fell runner!

Compared to Formula 1 - cycling is as cheap as chips.

Overshoes are a godsend. Also have some mavic winter shoes - gore-tex and thermal. Toasty but expensive....

But unlike running shoes they don't seem to wear. I've had mine for 4 winters and they are as good as new. I just give them a wipe to get any salt/road dirt off and they are ready to go again.

I've not even had to replace the SPD cleat yet and if I do it'll be no more than a fiver.
