With a rest day for the Giro I decided to do the Arncliffe - Halton Gill - Sannat Hall Farm - Malham Tarn - Arncliffe loop, and what a glorious blue sky/ fluffy white clouds day it was. Gorgeous.

And as a bonus the 6 miles between Halton Gill and Sannat Hall Farm were closed to all traffic for resurfacing (except for North Yorkshire Highways' boys from the black stuff lorries). They were doing a good job - proper tarmac and all but perhaps they have been told how much the claims for wrecked Campagnolo Bora wheels will run to for pothole damage after the forthcoming Tom Pidcock sportive? Anyway it was a silent, serene ride along the Pen y Ghent fell valley. I kept looking up to see if I was being monitored by Fellbeast's surveillance helicopter but apparently not.

The climb out of Halton Gill (to feature on the sportive) is signed at 16% but there are two later climbs on the loop signed at 20%. Strava agrees with one but suggests the other peaks at 24.8% - and who am I to argue?

All in all, a delightful day. Only 20 miles but 2000 feet, a sun tan and temptation to go round again.

Used to go to a club in Coalville on the main drag called The Emporium. It was quite well-regarded throughout the country as a "proper club"
West End was the club that I played at with a Motown band a few times in early 2000s, sadly On the main street to Ashby not the back streets. The bingo was good there on a Wednesday.

    26 miles/1706 feet at 15 mph average....1hr 46 mins.
As I felt pleased with myself I reflected that the top marathon runners would have covered the same distance (on the flat) only 16 minutes slower. That is MAD!

Flipping heck, what is the weather like with you? Horrendous over here, I couldn't stay upright on a bike even if I tried.

62k and 1380m climbing, my road loop of 50k then added a gravel section up round the mines and forestry for an extra 380m climbing, this slowed me up a bit as too rough to come down fast!
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.
