Thread: Today's Bike Ride

My heart voted for my club's race over Ilkley Moor this evening. My knees voted for a bike ride.

    The knees had it.

So 36 miles (1500 feet) along the Wharfe to Wike, including a newly discovered tiny lane basically just serving a farm, one Bianchi sighting and one Maserati Ghibli sighting parked on one of the most expensive roads to live on north of Chelsea - well £3million for a house in Leeds?

And oh, the lightness of that carbon frame, the joy of changing gear just to hear the silkiness of the campagnolo mech. and of course being at one with the road surface via those 4500 miles puncture-free Vittoria Tereno Zero Graphene 2.0 700 x25c tyres.

Fell running was never this good.

You missed a nice night on the Moor, and a consumate display of Fell running skill and speed from Tom Adams (and me). Wharfedale did a good job.

Just testing if anyone reads these missives from the mountain

My road bike has the Rubino Pro Control. The ADV has the Terreno Zero and in my case 35mm.

Btw when I was in Woodrups this week there were no Campag. equipped bikes on sale (despite it selling more Bianchi bikes than any other brand) and they said Shimano were just so huge fewer Italian bikes were being equipped by Campag because their equipment was relatively more expensive.

There are only 3 Campag. equipped teams in the Giro whereas when I was a lad....

Talking of porn. I saw two Ferraris (a red one and a blue one) and one Lamborghini (slate grey) on my travels today. One summer sunny Sunday and all the "look at me" show offs turn out. Still if that is the best of Italian manufacture perhaps I should stay quiet. Anyway 33 miles (2400 feet) North through Burnsall to Thresfield and back via Cracoe.

I felt a bit tired on the way back. Perhaps it was the head wind or perhaps it was as a result of chasing riders young enough to be my grandchildren on the way North.

    Probably the head wind.
