It is very easy to dfind out about this secret race if you know how to read it...

Which secret race is this? There used to be one called the Silver Howe Chase which was rarely publicised but the last time I ran it was in November. Cracking 7/8 miles over Loughrigg to Silver Howe and back.

If it's this one then I'd also like to know details please.

If Ambleside AC wants to hold a race off its own bat, and with no reference to the FRA, then that’s Ambleside’s prerogative. Many clubs do this, and nobody objects.

Discussing it on the Forum in terms of “A Secret Race” does not help the situation.

Many small races are held by clubs, and groups of friends (often without permission, or insurance – but who cares?) and shouting it from the roof tops via the world wide web will not turn them into open races or official FRA races – it’s more likely to force the races to be abandoned because of the possiblility of too many people turning up, landowners finding out and objecting to what they perceive as organised events etc etc.

There are some issues which this forum needs to start addressing responsibly. Over-publication of official FRA races is already causing problems, as we have seen on other threads.

Please don’t let this spread to “friendlies”.
