Wow, the Olympic Games start today. Can't wait to get in my fav chair and watch as many sports and events as possible.
Get this weeks AW (thats if you can be arsed paying the £3.95 price tag) and it lists all the athletics events with timings. The alarm clock is set as some of the best heats are taking place at 4am!!!!

All excited , althou womens football qualifiers already started i believe. The opening ceremony should be good , Gordon Brown is missing out on a show and a half.

not so sure about the ceremony for me.
can't wait for the games but the ceremonies just seem like a load of BS, take ages and don't seem relevant.
Maybe its cos fireworks etc never seem that good on TV compared to being there.
But i have been to beijing and went to a show where they did the acrobatics and that was amazing.
Aww shame calf , it looks spectacular. Tbh watching some sports is like watching paint dry to me but each to their own.

I feel a bit sorry for Seb Coe though as London's will be completely different.......Probably 70,000 polish builders trying to get it finished before the torch arrives.

It was a great event. I am sure London 2012 will do equally as well. Look at the show they put on at Commonwealth Games in Manchester back 2002.

Only seen some brief highlights of the opening ceremony as we have been out all day but from what I saw I can't think of any other country that could come up with an opening like today. I know a lot of people find the opening a lot of dross but you have to admit it looked damn good as openings go. Could we better it in 2012?
Lets hope all the games events follow suit? A week to wait before the athletics start? seems a long wait that.
